Worlds 8th Happiest NationIsrael is tied with Canada, Switzerland, and Australia as the worlds eighth happiest country out of 155 surveyed, according to a Gallup World Poll posted by Forbes.
Forbes said the richest countries were by and large the happiest. Scandinavian countries dominated the list...taking [4 of the top] five spots. African nations took up most of the bottom, with Sierra Leone, Cambodia (not African), Comoros, Burundi, and Togo ranking as the unhappiest countries on earth.
Israel far out-stripped its neighbors in happiness...The US ranked number 14 on the list.
Americans believe they make more new friends in sports bars and restaurants than in churches, and churches also have competition from online social media such as Facebook.
In a survey of nearly 800 respondents, of whom more than three-quarters identified themselves as Christians, only 16% said church is their favorite place to meet new friends.
