The Tide of Our Times

“What is the fastest growing religion on Earth? Most news reports suggest it is Islam. But the evidence suggests a... biblically inspired evangelical Christianity is sweeping through places like China, Africa, India and Southeast Asia—making it, by far, the fastest-growing faith on the planet.

Author Jim Rutz in a new book entitled ‘Megashift’... makes the point that Christianity is overlooked as the fastest-growing faith in the world because most surveys look at the traditional Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church while ignoring Christian believers who have no part of either...

‘There are now more missionaries sent from non-Western nations than Western nations’ Rutz writes.” Prophecy Watch

Cancer-stricken Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says that he is seeking divine support from the indigenous deities and spirits of Venezuela’s Central plains to help him. Many people in the region adhere to folk religions (See 1 Kings, ch. 20). The Wichita Eagle

“For years, many believed the mission of Texas-based Zion Oil & Gas to be nothing more than a pipe dream, the false hope of ideological Christian Zionists...A World Energy Council estimate suggests Israel could be sitting on 250 billion barrels of oil, which is nearly as much as the proven reserves of Saudi Arabia.” Israel Today

“Tulsa, Oklahoma, Police Captain Paul Fields has been demoted, docked pay, and told he will not be promoted—all for refusing to attend an event at an Islamic center tied to the Muslim Brotherhood.

World Net Daily has reported that...the event, called ‘Law Enforcement Appreciation Day,’ was purely an ‘Islamic proselytizing event.’ Police toured the mosque, met its leaders, saw presentations on Islam’s beliefs and views on human rights and women, and attended a prayer service.” WorldNetDaily

“Fifty years ago marks the launch of the modern creation science movement with the publication of The Genesis Flood by Drs. John Whitcomb and Henry Morris. That book...continues to influence scientists and laymen alike with the message of creation and the global Flood.

And yet, none of this...would have been possible were it not for one other book, much more important than any other publication in the world: the Holy Bible.” Acts & Facts

“A recent Congressional Research Service (CRS) report found American fossil-fuel reserves exceed those of Saudi Arabia, China, and Canada combined...According to CRS, the United States possesses 135 billion barrels of recoverable oil. That’s enough, at the current rate of consumption, to replace Persian Gulf oil for the next 50 years.

Our country also has 262 billion tons of recoverable coal—28 percent of the world’s total and enough to last several centuries...In this bountiful land, the choice between being a consumer and an environmentalist is a false one. Most people are both, balancing an appreciation of nature’s beauty with the economic necessities of raising a family.” The Washington Times

Holidays—Thanksgiving and Christmas are on their way. The speeding clock of time is bringing us to the final two months of this year. In thinking of the holidays, let us all be considering how we can bring to the world a good testimony as to what they are all about. When the Son of God gave His life on Calvary’s cross, He was not simply a hopeless martyr for a lost cause, rather He came to seek and to save that which is lost and one day He will come again. Considering the developments of our world, this could be the greatest season we have known as being an opportunity to bring a testimony for Christ.
