The Tide of Our Times “The Red Sea might save the Dead SeaAbundant water from the Red Sea could replenish the shrinking Dead Sea if Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinians decide to commission a tunnel north through the Jordanian desert from the Gulf of Aqaba. The Red Sea-Dead Sea Water Conveyance project would supply the biggest desalination plant in the world, running on its own hydroelectric power and providing Jordan with enough water for the next 40-50 years. Israel and the Palestinian-occupied West Bank would also benefit.”
“We are on the vergewithin 10 yearsof a major collapse of evangelical Christianity. This breakdown will follow the deterioration of the mainline Protestant and will fundamentally alter the religious and cultural environment of the West...This collapse will herald the arrival of the anti-Christian chapter of the post-Christian West. Intolerance of Christianity will rise to levels many of us have not believed possible in our life-times, and public policy will become hostile toward evangelical Christianity, seeing is as the opponent of the common good.”
“A record 12.7 million Mexican immigrants lived in the U.S. in 2008, a 17-fold increase since 1970... ‘About 11 percent of everyone born in Mexico is currently living in the U.S. ’... ‘No other country in the world has as many total immigrants from all countries as the United States has immigrants from Mexico alone. Other than the United States, the country that hosts the largest number of immigrants is Russia. ’”
“‘Why is Israel always abused as the guilty party despite its long history of suffering at the hands of others?’ The answer can only be found in one source: the Word of God. Beyond this surge of violence in Gaza, another war is raging. It involves nothing less than Satan’s struggle to be God. And at the center of the current controversy is the satanic determination to wipe out the Jewish people and do away with Israel. By any rational evaluation, Jewish people have earned the right to be respected and appreciated, and the State of Israel should be highly esteemed for its many contributions to the welfare of humanity. ”
“Chinese Christians gained favorable approval from both local people and the government for being in the forefront of practical relief to the stricken earthquake zone in Sichuan last year. Now they may gain even further goodwill as they serve a society seriously affected by the recession.” “Six months before the economic whirlwind hit the U.S. and Europe, China’s juggernaut economy was already faltering. Now the prospects for 2009, as the full impact of the world recession hits China, are even worse. Forty million Chinese are expected to lose their jobs in the near future.”
