The Tide of Our Times May this coming year be one of opportunity and blessing. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Phil. 3:13-14). Speaking of a coming redemption, we can report to you that the interest in the future, in prophecy, in the return of the Lord, is very great in our present time. This anxiety in the world, properly exploited, can turn into a remarkable opportunity for the preaching of the Gospel. Every Christian has friends who are anxious about tomorrow. We wish it could be said that every Christian is, therefore, an earnest witness for Christ. Our recommendationbe one of those earnest witnesses. We in the United States are experiencing what many have suffered in the past. When any free society changes course toward a more controlled environment, they usually do it through gradual change with broad promises... Most of the framers of our Constitution without apology emphasized that our law is based upon Gods Law. George Washington stated, It is impossible to govern the world without God and the Bible...Bless, O Lord, the whole race of mankind and let the world be filled with the knowledge of thy son, Jesus Christ. John Adams, the second president, said this: Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Worth Quoting The whole inspiration of our civilization springs from the teachings of Christ and the lessons of the prophets. To read the Bible for these fundamentals is a necessity of American life.
I have a tender reliance on the mercy of the Almighty, through the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am a sinner. I look to Him for mercy; pray for me
My advice to Sunday schools, no matter what their denomination, is: Hold fast to the Bible as the sheet anchor of your liberties; write its precepts in your hearts, and practice them in your lives. To the influence of this Book, are we indebted for all the progress made in true civilization, and to this must we look as our guide in the future. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.
But especially, Wherefore be you not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is (Eph. 5:17).
